The History of the Garden Party

Garden parties have been a staple of English high society for centuries. From the grandeur of the aristocratic gatherings to the more humble village fêtes, these events have been a way for the English to celebrate and socialize in the beauty of nature.

The history of garden parties in England dates back to the seventeenth century when the French nobility introduced the concept of “fête champêtre” or rural party. The aristocrats of England soon followed suit, hosting their own garden parties, complete with elaborate decorations, musical performances, and copious amounts of food and drink.

The tradition of garden parties gained popularity in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries during the reign of Queen Victoria. Her Majesty, along with Prince Albert, hosted lavish garden parties at Buckingham Palace, inviting members of the aristocracy, politicians, and prominent figures from society.

These events were an opportunity for the royals to connect with their subjects, showcase the beauty of their gardens, and indulge in the pleasures of good food and company. The garden parties were often held in the summer months and were highly anticipated by those lucky enough to receive an invitation.

In the early twentieth century, garden parties became more accessible to the middle class, who were increasingly able to afford homes with gardens. These gatherings became a popular way for families to socialize and enjoy the great outdoors.

Despite changes in society and the world, the tradition of garden parties has remained a beloved aspect of English culture. Whether it’s the grandeur of a royal garden party or the simplicity of a village fête, the English continue to celebrate the beauty of nature, good food, and great company.

In recent years, the concept of the garden party has expanded to include more informal and creative gatherings, such as picnics, barbecues, and outdoor music festivals. Yet, the essence of the garden party remains the same – a celebration of the simple pleasures in life, the beauty of nature, and the joy of sharing these experiences with others.

6 Reasons More People Are Looking For A Disco For Hire

Pop up parties are growing in popularity for a reason.

They’re fun, they look incredible and, most importantly, for the birthday girl/boy, everyone who attends will remember a spectacular party. As there are so many moving parts when it comes to organising a party, more people are preferring to choose a pop up nightclub or disco for hire. By hiring a disco, you get everything included, the structure, the setup, the company’s expertise and so much more.

These are the reasons why people are choosing a disco for hire when throwing landmark birthday parties and events.

An Obvious Reason… They Look Amazing!

When it comes to planning your child’s birthday party, it’s natural you want something that will impress everyone and be unique. From your child’s point of view, having a party that’s completely different to everybody else’s is important. They don’t want to follow the crowd; they want to stand out. That’s the reason why pop up nightclubs are growing in popularity.

Having your own disco in your garden is unique. Visually, it looks impressive, and your child can have their own nightclub for a night filled with all their friends and family.

It’s All Inclusive

If you decided to hire just a marquee or a community hall, it’s expected you will organise and manage your own decorations, DJ, technology, bar, food, lighting, security, clean up and everything else in between. Trying to find the right DJ who is available to play on the night can be difficult and where do you even start looking to hire bar staff for one night?

Hiring a disco which has everything included is a lifesaver in regards to time, stress and costs. You don’t have to worry about booking everything. The company you’re hiring the venue from will already have it all planned and ready.

With Igloo Disco that’s exactly what we do. Along with our inflatable Igloos, we bring all the features you need for a successful party: DJ, tech, security, bar (with bar staff), etc.

They Take The Stress Off Your Shoulders

Planning a party is fun. Choosing venues, picking the caterers and finding the best DJ is all part of the process. However, let’s not ignore the fact it can get stressful too. There’s many moving parts to think about and, importantly, there’s the emotional stress of making sure your child has an incredible time.

By hiring an all-in-one disco, you can be confident the company has hosted birthday parties before and they know exactly what to do.

The Disco Company Provides Their Expertise

Adding on to the previous point, by hiring an experienced and successful company to manage the venue and everything else, you can be certain they know exactly what your child wants in their party. If you’ve never planned a party like this before, it’s daunting not knowing the bands and artists your child and their friends like to listen to.

Hiring a disco means you can talk to an experienced professional who can help you plan and organise the event. They can share insightful information that has been successful in other parties and they can help your vision become a reality.

Safety Is A High Priority

By choosing a disco for hire, you can also be confident that the venue will be set up safely, following health and safety regulations. When there’s a disco in your back garden and there are guests who have had too much to drink, it’s important risk assessments are made to decrease the risk of any injuries.

For every birthday party we attend, safety is a top priority. Our inflatable structures are set up securely (using a special anchoring technique – no ugly or trip hazardous tent ropes are used!) so they remain upright and fixed to the ground. Our staff remain on-site during the party to manage health and safety. We concentrate on the important things while everyone else concentrates on having fun.

You Can Enjoy The Party Too

Finally, one of the main reasons people are searching for a pop up disco is because they can enjoy the experience too. If you ask any full time events manager or party planner, it’s difficult to let your hair down when you’re in charge of managing the event. By choosing a party company, they can manage the responsibility so you can have fun too. Why should you sit on the sidelines of your child’s biggest birthday party ever?

Theres a new kind of inflatable out there and she fits a purpose that you wouldn’t usually expect..

Recently we stumbled across this fascinating article about a gigantic inflatable woman. Here at Igloo Disco the office was of course alive with the usual pun’s about inflatable women. However this inflatable is a lady and she fits a purpose you wouldn’t usually expect.

The gigantic woman appeared in Nanjing city in China and has caused quite a stir with the local children in the area. Ba Di is her name and her purpose is to double up as a sex education playground where children can enter through her feet and explore a ball pool inside.

This great article from the Daily Mail explores the story in more detail – http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3033254/Giant-inflatable-woman-unveiled-China-features-playground-teaches-children-sex.html

We just love inflatables here at Igloo Disco, if you do too and you would like your very own inflatable structure to make your event stand out why not browse our site to find out more.

Fancy an Igloo Disco on Mars? Well it could happen sooner than you think…

Humanity has dreamt of getting off the planet since we first looked up to the stars and began to study the cosmos. Sending men to Mars and even setting up a settlement on our closest planetary neighbour has long been the plot of many a sci-fi movie, Total Recall with the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger being my personal favourite.

Now it seems this could be reality sooner than you think. You may find yourself staying in Space Hotel inside an artificially created atmosphere in an inflatable structure within the next century. Of course the inflatable structures on mars will need to be made from a slightly more specialist material that your usual earth inflatable.

This amazing article from The Guardian Newspaper discusses the history of space habitability and also the issues we have making a cosmic mojito for your esteemed space tourist. It also discusses the history of using inflatables in space and the incredibly strong, but insanely light materials needed to create an inflatable eden on the red planet.

The Igloo Project

In September 2014 the Igloo Disco team took part in a very special event the aptly named Igloo Project in Nunthorpe. The event was a raving success and in keeping with traditional (and exciting) rave values the organisers didn’t reveal the location of the sold out party until the last minute.

The local paper The Gazette Live announced the location on Friday afternoon. You can also see a review and pictures from the event here – http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/whats-on/music-nightlife-news/view-were-you-rave-igloo-7814311

Igloo Disco were delighted to have been involved in the very successful event and we hope there will be a chance to be part of the Igloo Project again in the future.

Do Inflatable Pubs Require Licensing?….

…. The simple answer is yes they do, and the legislation involved doesn’t just end there. You also have to ensure that you have risk assessments in place to make sure your inflatable is structurally sound and most importantly safe.

I found an interesting article here that discusses the licensing of inflatable pubs.

http://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Business-Support/Legal-Q-A-Do-inflatable-pubs-require-licensing

You can find the full Licensing Act 2013 here – http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/17

Of course this also applies to us here at Igloo Disco too so no matter what type of inflatable marquee you are looking for, if you are wanting to undertake the sale of alcohol at your event you need to ensure you have the correct license in place.
